Job Description

Role Outline

To control and co-ordinate the distribution and warehouse process within the Distribution Centre (Planning, Organizing, Control, Procedures, Personnel Management, Customer Service, Management of information systems). To plan and meet customer requirements with meeting OTIF and OTD with regards to others.

Key Accountabilities

  • To work in conjunction with managers and to monitor, develop subordinates
  • To provide leadership, control and manage the DHL logistics depot
  • To control and utilize optimum levels the resources available to provide clients with an excellent service at the lowest cost
  • Implement and update systems and procedures for the control and security of the business
  • Responsible for integrity of client warehouse stocks
  • Good Warehouse Practice compliance
  • Working in a team environment
  • Working in a safe manner
  • To participate in stock takes and cycle counts
  • To work within operating areas as determined by management and performing ADHOC duties as and when required to meet the needs of the business
  • Compliance to Good Distribution Practice Guidelines, as well as MCC and SAPC requirements
  • Updating and sharing of operation reports
  • Manage daily shift operations including customer planning requirements
  • Meet and exceed operational service levels and manage the cost of labour
  • Drive and develop team culture

  • Maximize accuracy, productivity and space utilization
  • Ensure daily and weekly workload planning and volume forecasting routines are accomplished
  • Effective Leadership and Management of the operational and administrative teams
  • Manage Human Resource through management team, ensure appropriate levels of Human resources to meet business needs, performance issues, training and development, employee productivity and recruitment and retention of staff
  • Compliance with statutory and company policies and procedures
    • Through Management team ensure compliance with statutory and company policies on :
    • Health and Safety
    • Employment  Equity
    • Labour relations
    • Legislative
    • Environmental issues
    • Including regular monitoring to ensure these areas are maintained at a high level of compliance.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Matric
  • 5-6 Years Supervisory experience
  • Relevant Degree or Qualification

Experience:

  • Good written and communication skills and understand basic arithmetical principles
  • 6-8 years Logistics / Warehousing experience
  • Ability to follow procedures and safety rules
  • Deadline driven
  • Ability to count accurately and to perform simple math
  • Ability to read, understand and follow directions / instructions
  • Good written and communication skills
  • Enforcement of Health & Safety procedures and identify hazard
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Person should know what products are handled by the Company
  • Person needs good understanding of distribution and transport methods
  • System experience (SAP/ WMOS/ Pride)
