Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our Plant finance team. The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the full Plant accounting function, from capturing and processing financial data through to the preparation management reports, enabling informed decision making and effective financial management.
Requirements
Skills/Experience and Education
- BA degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Professional qualification such as CA(SA) will be advantageous
- 5+ years relevant accounting experience
- Knowledge of tax calculations, VAT and statutory submissions
- Experience in audit preparations and dealing with auditors
- Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and reports
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records for assets, liabilities, and financial transactions
- Process and review journals, reconciliations, and general ledger entries
- Compile and present management reports with relevant financial analysis
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies
- Calculate and manage tax obligations, including VAT and other statutory requirements
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Monitor cash flow and assist with financial controls and risk management
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decision-making
- Ensure deadlines are met for all reporting and compliance requirements
