Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Manager Project Controls in the Project Controls Department, the incumbent will be responsible for providing professional quantity surveying / cost engineering services for Projects within the Capital Projects and Compliance Division.
Responsibilities:
Manage quantity surveying services relating to estimating and cost control, the tendering process and, after contract award, the commercial interface.
•Manage estimating and measurement of construction works prior to tender.
•Become a Team member in clarifying and evaluating tenders
•Manage the resultant contract through monthly cost reports, variations control, and assessment of claims.
•Review Escalation, cost and trends in the engineering industry
•Financial evaluation during Tender Adjudication
•Verification and Valuation of contract claims, variations, calculation of penalties
•Monthly site measurements and Preparation of Payment Certificates
•Prepare all levels of Estimates
Requirements:
• Applicants must be in possession of a formal qualification (B Tech, B degree) Quantity Surveying Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Water etc.)
• 5-year experience in Project Management with a proven track record in project scheduling, project management skills (best project management practices) in terms of managing matrix structures, multi-disciplinary projects
• 10-year extensive experience engineering projects, cost estimating, project progress evaluation and valuation OR Minimum 10 years Quantity Surveying / Cost Engineering experience with a proven track record in the Engineering field (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Automation and Building, etc.)
• Professional Registration (eligibility to be registered) with the South African Council of Quantity Surveyors (SACQS) or the Engineering Council of SA (ECSA)
• Project Management Qualification (Diploma / Degree) will be an advantage
• Computer Literate SAP Project System, MS Office with strength in Excel, MS Project, WinQS
• Proven management, communication and leadership skills, strong influencing skills, conflict resolution skills and ability to achieve objectives without having direct responsibility.
• Sound knowledge of Project Estimating and Enterprise Project Management tools
•Projects cost estimating techniques
•Knowledge of CIDB regulations Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM).
•Knowledge of ISO 9001 2015
•Knowledge of the OHSACT
