Job Description
Role Purpose:
he Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all
maintenance activities related to factory equipment and machinery within and around the High
Voltage Equipment manufacturing facility, inclusive of remote sites. The role ensures maximum
equipment uptime, reliability, and performance through proactive maintenance strategies,
effective resource utilisation, and compliance with SHEQ standards
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all
production and auxiliary equipment (e.g., coil winding machines, vacuum systems (ovens, oil
plant), testing equipment, CNC machines, presses, and assembly lines).
➢ Coordinate troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades to minimize downtime and optimise
production output.
➢ Maintain accurate asset register, maintenance logs, equipment history and spare parts
inventory records.
➢ Collaborate with engineering and production teams on equipment modifications,
installations and commissioning of new machinery.
➢ Liaise with external service providers, OEMs, and suppliers for maintenance support and
spare parts procurement.
➢ Implement and maintain a maintenance management system (MMS) for scheduling, tracking,
and reporting maintenance activities.
➢ Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as equipment uptime, mean time between
failures (MTBF), and mean time to repair (MTTR).
➢ Drive reliability improvement initiatives using root cause analysis (RCA), 5S, and lean
maintenance techniques.
➢ Collaborate with industrial and design engineers to enhance equipment performance and
efficiency.
➢ Evaluate and implement new maintenance technologies, tools, and best practices
Maintenance Cost Control:
➢ Assist in preparing the maintenance department’s annual budget, including labour, spare
parts and external services.
➢ Monitor and control maintenance costs to achieve budget targets without compromising
reliability or safety.
➢ Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and energy efficiency projects.
Human Resource:
➢ Supervise & co-ordinate a team of maintenance assistants, electricians, fitters, and
apprentices.
➢ Develop team competencies through structured training programs on mechanical, electrical,
and instrumentation maintenance.
➢ Conduct performance appraisals, identify skills gaps, and implement development plans for
maintenance staff.
➢ Create a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the
maintenance department.
➢ Ensure effective shift planning and resource allocation to support 24/7 operations (where
applicable).
➢ Assist in the recruitment and selection of maintenance personnel
SHEQ Management (ISO9001, ISO14001 & ISO45001)
➢ Ensure all maintenance activities comply with the factory’s SHEQ policies, standards, and
relevant statutory regulations.
➢ Lead risk assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), and permit-to-work systems for
maintenance tasks.
➢ Promote and enforce safe work practices, use of PPE, and proper lock-out/tag-out (LOTO)
procedures.
➢ Coordinate with the SHEQ department to investigate incidents, root causes, and implement
corrective actions.
➢ Ensure environmental compliance during equipment maintenance, including proper waste
disposal and spill prevention.
➢ Support quality initiatives by maintaining equipment calibration and ensuring machinery
operates within specified tolerances.
➢ Participate in internal and external SHEQ audits and contribute to continuous improvement
of systems.
Requirements:
- National Diploma (N6) in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronic Engineering or Millwright or
Trade certificate. - Experience in electrical component manufacturing or industrial production (preferably
rotating and cutting machine environment, within the transformers, isolators, switchgear,
manufacturing). - Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and PLC-controlled systems.
- Knowledge with Maintenance Management Systems or relevant software and maintenance
planning tools. - Computer Literacy in Microsoft Office
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 2 years in a
Supervisorial or supervisory role. - Solid understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
- Basic Knowledge of financial and cost management.
- Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills across all organisational
levels. - Technical ability to interpret engineering drawings and manuals
